Please refer to the user guide for details. =========================================================================================================================== KNOWN ISSUES =========================================================================================================================== 1. OS: All. Issue: A move operation (using -m) performed on a directory tree (containing multiple sub-directories) may result in "Error deleting [source_directory]...", but the source files will have been moved successfully. This is caused by bdm default multi-threaded operation on some systems. Workaround - if this error is observed, add "-t 1" to bdm move (-m) commands (note that this will reduce the performance of bdm significantly); as an alternative, do not use the move option (-m), which will result in bdm running as a copy operation. 2. OS: All. Issue: With HyperFS, a rare circumstance may occur where a BDM operation doesn't execute, and instead displays the error, "Unable to open clip...: 22("Invalid argument")". This has been observed when there is heavy metadata load on the metadata server. 3. OS: Windows. Issue: With HyperFS, files copied to a destination on a HyperFS volume are currently not 100% optimized. However, a significant amount of optimization is still achieved. 4. OS: Windows. Issue: An error occurs when using the "--dont-preallocate" option, "4bright.bdiox.native|BDNativeVolume::FileOpen Error". Workaround - none available. 5. OS: Windows. Issue: On a shared volume, a Windows client will attempt to follow symbolic links (a.k.a. soft links, symlinks) that were created by a Linux or Mac client. The program will halt with the error, "Unable to stat dir entry...". This is a Windows limitation; no fix is available. =========================================================================================================================== VERSION HISTORY =========================================================================================================================== BDM 4.2.1.11030 (2013-03-26) ---------------------------- 1. Revised the handling of symbolic links (a.k.a. soft links, symlinks) - by default, symbolic links contained within the specified source content will now be followed. The new option --dont-followlinks was added to allow for disabling this default behavior. BDM 4.2.0.11003 (2013-03-12) ---------------------------- 1. Added support for SNFS clients Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and 10.8 Mountain Lion. BDM 4.2.0.10928 (2013-01-14) ---------------------------- 1. Added support for HyperFS clients Mac OS X 10.6 Leopard, 10.7 Lion, and 10.8 Mountain Lion. BDM 4.2.0.10881 (2012-12-04) ---------------------------- 1. No longer supporting Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard 32-bit. 2. ISSUE FIXED . OS: Linux (HyperFS MDS). . Issue: With HyperFS, running BDM on the MDS (metadata server) is currently not supported. BDM 4.2.0.10700 (2012-11-12) ---------------------------- 1. Added support for optimized file layout on HyperFS volumes. 2. No longer supporting the following operating systems: RedHat EL/CentOS 4u4+ 32/64-bit Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard 3. ISSUE FIXED . OS: Windows. . Issue: With SNFS, relative paths are not handled properly (resulting in an error). BDM 4.2.0.10458 (2012-06-21) ---------------------------- 1. Added a fix for handling the SNFS "file busy" status when a file is opened with a multi-threaded operation. For up to several seconds after opening a file, the SNFS file system maintains "multiple references" to the file. The occur- rence of data corruption was possible when allocating new space for the file content while the multiple references are open. The snfsdefrag program demonstrates the existence of this issue by reporting "file is busy" if multiple references to a file are open. 2. Added '-C, --chunk' option for setting the chunk size used by the -P pre-allocate function (the default is 1 gigabyte). 3. Added the "round" option (also known as "round robin") to the pre-allocate flags for 'univ' and 'advanced', specified as '-P univ, round' or '-P advanced, round'. This round pre-allocator will rotate file allocations across each available stripe group, making use of the -C chunk size where possible. When using '-P advanced, round', files that are larger than the chunk size will be stored using the SNFS volume configuration setting for 'AllocationStrategy'. Unique stripe group affinities are required for using '-P advanced, round'. 4. Added output status reporting of the round flag. BDM 4.0.1.9920 (2012-01-09) --------------------------- 1. Changed size of threads to 4 megabytes to fix illegal instruction problem on Mac OS X. 2. Fixed handling of single file copies. 3. Changed the install path for all installers to use /usr/bti/ instead of /usr/bsi/. 4. Fixed parsing of autodesk file names in the sequence name parser. 5. Modified all Linux and Mac OS X installers to create the /var/log/bright/ directory. BDM 4.0.1.9710 (2011-12-02) --------------------------- 1. Support for StorNext® 4.2 > Includes 3D Stereoscopic Optimizer for 3D files (--merge-3d option). 2. Operating system support: RedHat EL/CentOS 4u4+ 32/64-bit RedHat EL/CentOS 5u2+ 32/64-bit RedHat EL/CentOS 6+ 32/64-bit Windows XP 32/64-bit Windows Server 2003 32/64-bit Windows 7 32/64-bit Windows Server 2008 32/64-bit Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard 32/64-bit SUSE 10 ES 32/64-bit SUSE 11 ES 32/64-bit
